Economy
The Republicans are going to set their sights on 2010 to win back House seats and maybe pick up a Senate seat or two. The economy will still be the dominant election factor at that time. That is if there is still a country and President Obama hasn’t allowed our enemies to burn this nation to the ground through appeasement and capitulation. That is another blog topic in itself. In order to win in 2010, the Republicans need to tap into the inherent anger and suspicion many of the American people have regarding our economic prospects and standing. How are they going to do this? First and foremost, Republican candidates need to demonstrate a sense of anger about the economy. They need to go out on the campaign trail and rail against this bail-out and looting of the federal treasury. They need to articulate a message that the tax payers of this country should not be forced to pick up the bill for bad decisions made by individuals and businesses. They need to say that this bail out has been mishandled from the beginning and will only get worse under government control.Republican candidates should hit the stump espousing how liberal democrat policies have contributed to this mess and that their policies will only hurt any recovery. It must be argued that the Democrats in Congress set into play policies that created the home foreclosure catastrophe which was a major catalyst of the current economic down turn. It must also be argued that Democrat plans to raise taxes on anyone during an economic slow down in inherently flawed and counter productive.Republicans lastly should make the case that this country needs to return to its roots of personal and fiscal responsibility. The housing mess came about from people who bought too much house and lenders who let anyone, regardless of qualifications, get a home loan. Greed and lack of personal responsibility are at the heart of this. Republican candidates must go out on the campaign trail and own the issue of economic responsibility and tap into the anger swirling around this issue.
Guantanamo Bay
The Washington Post Reports:“The Obama administration will launch a review of the classified files of the approximately 250 detainees at Guantanamo Bay immediately after taking office, as part of an intensive effort to close the U.S. prison in Cuba, according to people who advised the campaign on detainee issues…..They believe the move would create a global wave of diplomatic and popular goodwill that could accelerate the transfer of some detainees to other countries”.It is frightening to ponder the lengths that President-Elect Obama may go to undo the progress we have made on the war on terror. I still hold firm that Obama will be soft on terror and will be bullied by and capitulate to our avowed enemies. His desire to close Guantanamo Bay is a signal that he is more concerned with being liked and being President of the World than protecting our country and being the President of the United States. The Guantanamo Bay detention facility holds several hundred of the worst anti-west, murderous, terrorist thugs. To release them would be a huge mistake, even into a different facility, as they may find the means to once again become involved in active terrorism. Also, what country is going to want these people? Why should they be returned to their country of origin which may be sympathetic to their plight and eventually set them free? Lastly, we are not aware of the extent of information we have received from these prisoners that has possibly prevented another terrorist attack. We are possibly giving up a valuable tool in our war on terror by closing this facility.Liberals argue that Guantanamo Bay is used as an Al Qaeda recruiting tool to show how inhuman and anti-Islamic the United States is. I say it is an example of how just the United States is. In just about any other country, during any other war, captured enemy combatants may not have been allowed to live to even see captivity. If they did, it would have been an inhuman and torturous existence that would have caused prisoners to wish they were dead. Guantanamo prisoners live in a comfortable environment and are even provided the necessary requirements to practice their faith. How well off would a captured Christian soldier be in an Al Qaeda sponsored prison?By considering closing Guantanamo Bay, Barack Obama once again demonstrates that he is nothing more than a liberal appeaser and not a leader of the American people when we need one the most.
Lessons from the "08 Election
I learned an interesting statistic about the 2008 election that will have an important impact on 2010 and 2012. The Black turnout increased about 1% over the last election and Democrat turnout as a whole was up about 3%. Republican turnout was down 2% however. That 5% total accounts for the majority of the 7% margin of victory by Obama. These are important numbers that political strategists need to explore. They are also important for us to understand in putting together our strategy for success in future elections.I have made the contention that people are more inclined to vote for someone that to vote against someone. The problem is that John McCain never really gave conservatives, let alone all Republicans, anything to vote for. He never had a clear and articulate message or vision for this country. He ran mainly on his record and ability to work with others. That is not real inspiring when this country is longing for inspiring ideas and concepts. The only remaining strategy was to attack Barack Obama. Successful campaigns mix a clear message of vision and proposals with a strategic attack on an opponent. All McCain really ever gave voters was a muddied vision and a tepid attack on Barack Obama. That is what I believe led directly to the Republican turn out to be down 2%. Future Republican campaigns have to learn from this election and do everything possible to not repeat it.

No Apology Needed
CNN.com today reports that:“America's image has declined in nearly every region of the world in recent years, but Obama's victory ‘enables the United States to start again with a clean slate,’ according to John Quelch, the senior associate dean at Harvard Business School.‘Americans can actually go to dinner parties and cocktail receptions around the world today and not have to apologize for the United States the way they have had to do the last several years,’ he said. ‘The election has made life a little bit easier for Americans living and traveling abroad to hold their head up high again’”To hell with that! Any American who thinks they must hang their head in shame abroad for being an American and apologize for our nation is a self-loathing disgrace to this incredibly noble and courageous nation. Very few things make me see red with pure anger than to read absolute garbage as this swill on CNN.com.I could go on for hours on this. However I will make a few simple points. The United States is the most giving, noble and moral nation in the world. Thousands upon thousands of American lives were shed here and abroad defending us and many, yes many, nations around the world from the forces of tyranny and oppression. From the atrocities of Adolph Hitler to the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, the United States is the ONLY nation and the American people are the ONLY people that have consistently fought the forces of evil in this world. The United States is the leader in life saving medicine and we share it with people from around the world. We develop new technology for numerous industries and we are the spearhead in the global economy. The people of this nation send more foreign aid and more foreign missionaries than any other country. When a crumbling nation with a corrupt government and a starving people are in need, it is the United States that is ALWAYS turned to for rescue and we are there. We are there because we are a moral and just people that deliver the hand of peace yet will fervently defend our selves against the enemies of our nation.I have no tolerance for people who feel they need to apologize for this great country. I feel it is more appropriate to apologize for even having these people in our country.

Do as I say, not as I do
Every candidate for a positon in the Obama adminsitration must fill out a 63 item questionaire that is quite detailed. CNN.com reports that:“The largest part of the questionnaire asks prospective White House appointees and their spouses to list real estate and other business transactions, affiliations and relationships.” Another question is “‘Have you had any association with any person, group or business venture that could be used -- even unfairly -- to impugn or attack your character or qualifications for government service?’"During the campaign, wasn’t it the Obama campaign that repeated over and over again that past relationships and afiliations have no bearing on one’s ability to serve? The Democratic candidate for President, the most powerful position in the world, didn't have to answer these questions, but lower staff does? I guess for President it doesn’t matter but for lower staff postions we must have intense scrituny into one’s past associatons for the good of the country.

A Tragedy of Historic Proportions
The United States, having for the most part a deeply conservative people, had until now just about stood out against many of the mistakes which have ruined so much of the rest of the world.
Suspicious of welfare addiction, feeble justice and high taxes, totally committed to preserving its own national sovereignty, unabashedly Christian in a world part secular and part Muslim, suspicious of the Great Global Warming panic, it was unique.
These strengths had been fading for some time, mainly due to poorly controlled mass immigration and to the march of political correctness. They had also been weakened by the failure of America's conservative party — the Republicans — to fight on the cultural and moral fronts.
They preferred to posture on the world stage. Scared of confronting Left-wing teachers and sexual revolutionaries at home, they could order soldiers to be brave on their behalf in far-off deserts. And now the US, like Britain before it, has begun the long slow descent into the Third World. How sad. Where now is our last best hope on Earth?

Due to long lines tomorrow, all Obama voters are being asked to vote on Wednesday. Please be sure to share this information so people don't show up to vote on the wrong day.
